Space Zero 1-Month Retrospective

About a month ago, I joined Space Zero.
As the name suggests, the goal is to create a foundation for all spaces, akin to an advanced version of Minecraft. Limiting 3D spatial technology to games is wasteful, so we are working to make this technology more accessible, allowing people to meaningfully enjoy spatial content.
At first glance, it might seem like a typical product or game, but it’s actually a product of a slightly different nature. Firstly, asset creation is done through AI. With AI, the cost of creating spaces converges to zero, effectively allowing anyone to become a creator. Many attempts have been made to create new spaces, but they often failed due to content issues, which Space Zero has resolved.
Secondly, it’s web-based. With the development of WebGL and the recent growth of the WebGPU ecosystem, rendering 3D spaces using accessible web technology has become easier.
If the production cost of a 3D space converges to zero (AI) and the distribution cost (Web) also converges to zero, all that remains is to assign meaning. From this point, it’s a battle for good content, similar to the early days of YouTube. Initially, YouTube was flooded with all sorts of miscellaneous videos. Video recording became incredibly easy (smartphones), and YouTube lowered the distribution cost of those videos. As more people watched these miscellaneous videos, content creators realized the significance of their videos and uploaded higher-quality content. This cycle repeated until we now have YouTube Studios, but 3D content hasn’t reached that level yet.
I joined Space Zero because I believed in the “me” that could realize this vision. It was an unusual choice from a personal standpoint, but it was because I believed in the vision or the data. Believing in the data, I shifted from open source and single-field development like frontend to product development. All were the right choices, and thus I never once doubted myself.
The world calls such choices intuition. And when intuition is combined with data, the probability of success increases. With the combination of me + data (logic) + vision (emotion), no choice is out of reach.
